ASA Philippines Foundation further expanded its poverty alleviation efforts with a PhP 1 million grant to Radyo Veritas Foundation last July 22. The donation aims to help Radyo Veritas’ DamAy Kapanalig social service initiatives.

ASA President and CEO Rapa C. Lopa and Trustee Esther O. Santos, the Board Sponsor of the grant, presided over the ceremonial turnover while Fr. Roy Bellen, Radyo Veritas President and CEO, represented the media organization at ASA’s Central Office in Bonifacio Global City.

DamAy Kapanalig is the flagship social service program of Radyo Veritas and is rooted in the Gospel’s call to serve the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable sectors of society. The PhP 1million grant will be used to aid DamAy Kapanalig’s three main pillars: Krusada sa Pasada, which brings much needed fuel relief to support transport drivers, Christmas Gift-Giving which will bring food and essential items to hundreds of indigent families this coming Holiday season, and On-Air Social Services Assistance, which aims to help individuals and families facing medical, financial, and personal crises. These programs will reach an estimated four to five hundred beneficiaries across Metro Manila

Lopa said ASA Philippines and Radyo Veritas share similar advocacies and that fulfilling the mission of poverty alleviation requires partnerships with same-minded organizations.

“We at ASA are blessed and fortunate to partner with Radyo Veritas Foundation – who for over five decades has focused on delivering values formation, spiritual nourishment and community-oriented programs for the underserved and marginalized sectors of our society,” said Lopa. “Its commitment to improving the moral and spiritual life of our communities resonates deeply with ASA’s own commitment to uplifting the economic and social life of our nanays and their families. Both of our institutions exist to provide aid and relief, and to care for the welfare of the communities we serve.”

Fr. Bellen thanked ASA for the grant, describing the aid as a great help not just in easing their beneficiaries’ financial burdens but giving them hope through the tough times they endure.

“Minsan di kailangan ng actual na pera, actual na gamit, you just have to hear the words that everything will be ok. There are people who know, there are people who will accompany you,” said Fr. Bellen. “We can bring hope and inspiration far and wide. With your help, we can do more, we can reach farther, and we can help more people. Thank you so much for helping us do more. Napakalaking tulong po nito.”
